Ever since I was a child, I did math. In kindergarten, my parents gave me a gift of a math sheet, aka the beginning of my journey.
In second grade, my parents signed me up for the HC test, which is like the GT program. At first when I took the test, I came unprepared for what was on it. I had absolutely no idea what practically half the answers were and guessed a lot of them. I ended up scoring a 75% on the first percentile. This made me extremely sad and ended up with me crying a lot. But my mum encouraged me and gave me test material to practice. The week after, I came prepared and ready to battle the test. I scored a whopping 99% which was high enough to let me qualify.
Later, my parents started making me add coding and IXL into my life. But there was one slight problem, I despised IXL. I hated doing the math lessons, but I was okay with the others. Yes, it did result in many temper tantrums, tears, and a lot of screaming but I didn’t have to do it anymore. :) I started coding, but it was extremely basic, it was just statements, loops, functions, these types of things. Even now I still haven't fully grasped these things ^_^.
6th grade was probably the most notable year of my life. One is, because I was the youngest in my grade(10), but this is also when I found AoPs. I loved AoPs more than I ever had for IXL and i-ready. But the work was never easy. I had many sleepless nights doing math. Headaches from overloads, but overall it was an interesting experience. When my friends find out about me doing STEM they always ask, Why do you always do it? Response is easy, because I love it. It feels like a friend to me that has stayed by my side all these years, someone who could never betray me.
As a current rising seventh grader, I would like to thank my parents for helping me on my math journey for all these years. My friends are always there for me ^_^. I would also like to thank everyone who could make me a woman in STEM. Keep up the STEM work people!
(Sorry like if I seemed kinda bad, it's just because I don’t usually write in a narrative style lol it was my worst in english 😋)
